Lower means a smaller file. 70–80% looks the same to most people.
Leave blank to keep the original pixel dimensions. Enter a width only to resize.
How it works
Add your images
Choose JPG, PNG or WebP photos to compare their original sizes.
Choose quality and format
Lower quality reduces detail; PNG uses a smaller colour palette, and WebP often saves more space.
Compress and download
Check the preview and save the compressed copies individually or in one ZIP.
Make images smaller without uploading them
Big photos are slow to send, fill up storage and are often too large for upload forms. This tool makes JPG, PNG and WebP images smaller by re-saving them with a lower quality setting, and, if you want, a smaller width.
You see the old size and the new size for every file before you download, so you can check the result. If it is not small enough, lower the quality and try again.
Tips for the best result
For photos, a quality of 70–80% usually looks the same to the eye and can make the file much smaller. Setting a maximum width saves even more space: 1600–2000 pixels is enough for most screens.
Saving as WebP often gives the smallest files, but check that the place you are sending the image accepts WebP. Your images are compressed on your device and are never uploaded.
Where smaller images help
Websites load faster when images are small, which visitors and search engines both like. Upload forms for jobs, visas and online shops often have a size limit, such as 1 MB or 2 MB. Email attachments are faster to send and less likely to bounce.
Keep your original photos somewhere safe. Compression removes detail that cannot be brought back, so it is best to compress a copy for sharing and keep the full-quality file for printing or editing later.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser, so your files are opened and converted on your own device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the image. Large photos from phones and cameras often shrink a lot; images that are already compressed may shrink only a little.
Will people see a difference?
At 70–80% quality most photos look the same on screen. Use a higher value for images with small text or fine lines.
Can I keep the same format?
Yes. "Same format" keeps JPG as JPG and PNG as PNG. You can also choose JPG or WebP for all files.
Does it remove location data?
Yes, always. The compressed image is saved without the GPS position and other hidden details that many photos carry.
How many images can I compress?
Up to 50 images at a time, up to 500 MB each.
