What can a photo reveal?
Photos from phones and cameras often include EXIF data: the date and time, the camera or phone model, settings like exposure and ISO, and, very often, the exact GPS position where the photo was taken. Some files also hold XMP or IPTC data with editing history, captions and copyright.
If the viewer shows a Location line, anyone who gets the original file can see where it was taken.
Check before you share
Use this viewer before you post a photo online, sell something with photos taken at home, or send pictures to people you do not know. If you want the details gone, Remove image metadata deletes them without changing the picture. Reading happens entirely in your browser.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser, so your photos are opened and processed on your own device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Does the viewer change my photo?
No. It only reads the file. Nothing is changed or saved.
Why is there no location?
Location is only stored if location access was on in the camera app. Some apps and social networks also remove it.
Can I read HEIC and AVIF metadata?
The viewer shows the size and format of HEIC and AVIF photos. Reading their detailed metadata is planned.
How do I remove the data?
Use our Remove image metadata tool. It deletes the details without re-saving the picture.
