How headings are found
Lines in clearly larger text than the body text are taken as headings; the largest become main bookmarks and the next size becomes sub-bookmarks.
The contents page lists every heading with its page number, and each line is a link. Existing bookmarks are replaced.
Private
Your file is processed inside your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library. It is never uploaded, and nothing is saved after you close the page.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser, so your files are opened and changed on your own device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
What if no headings are found?
Scanned PDFs have no text (use OCR PDF first), and some PDFs use the same size for everything. Choose One per page instead.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
