Tips for good results
Use sharp, well-lit pictures where the text is straight. Screenshots usually work very well; photos of curved book pages are harder.
This version reads English.
Private
Your file is processed inside your browser with Tesseract OCR (tesseract.js, Apache-2.0) and pdf-lib. The first time, the English OCR engine (about 6 MB) is downloaded from this website, not from anyone else, and kept by your browser for offline use. It is never uploaded, and nothing is saved after you close the page.

Does it work offline?
Yes, after the first use: the OCR engine is kept by your browser.
Can it read handwriting?
Neat printing sometimes works; joined-up handwriting usually does not.
