Why convert BMP to PNG?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly like BMP but compresses them, so files are often several times smaller. Converting BMP to PNG also adds proper transparency support and makes images easy to share online.
PNG cannot fix quality — it preserves the BMP exactly as it is. Flat-colour screenshots shrink dramatically, while noisy photos shrink less, but both stay pixel-perfect.
Convert privately on your device
Add your BMP images, press Convert to PNG, and download the finished files. The converter works offline after the page loads, so your images are never sent over the internet.
Convert up to 10 BMP files at once (100 MB each, even large uncompressed bitmaps) and download each PNG separately or grab them all as one ZIP. The live preview turns your BMP into PNG on screen before anything is saved, so you can confirm transparency survived.
Good to know before you convert BMP to PNG
After converting, you can safely delete the bulky BMPs and keep the PNGs as your working copies. PNG opens everywhere BMP does, and in far more mobile apps.
Each file keeps its original name with a png ending, so PNG results stay easy to match with their BMP originals. Keep the original BMP files until you have checked the PNG results — reconverting with different settings is free and private.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser, so your files are opened and converted on your own device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Does each BMP give one PNG?
Yes. A BMP holds a single picture, so every input file produces exactly one PNG with identical width, height and pixels.
Will the PNG look identical?
Yes. Both formats are lossless, so the PNG is a pixel-for-pixel copy of the BMP in a much smaller file.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
