Automatic border detection
Scans and screenshots often arrive wrapped in solid margins: white scanner beds, black letterbox bars, or the flat backdrop of a capture tool. This tool samples the corner colour of each image, then shrinks inward from every edge until pixels differ from that colour beyond your tolerance, cutting the frame in one confident move. Zero tolerance demands an exact colour match, while higher values forgive JPEG smudges and off-white paper gradients.
When no solid border exists, the tool says so plainly instead of guessing a destructive crop, leaving your photo untouched. Each file is judged on its own corners, so a mixed batch of scans with white beds and photos with black bars is cleaned correctly file by file.
Clean scans without manual cropping
Archivists digitising hundreds of pages waste hours dragging identical crop boxes; auto-trim removes every scanner margin in a single batch. Video editors strip letterboxing from frame grabs, and marketplace sellers delete the white surround from supplier photos so products fill the listing thumbnail edge to edge.
Images beyond 4096 pixels are scaled down first, with a note on the result row. The trimmed photo keeps its remaining pixels at full sharpness and is saved in your chosen format and quality.
Detection that discloses nothing
Border detection reads your pixels only to find where the frame ends, and it does that reading in your browser's own memory. Your scans of contracts, IDs and private correspondence are never uploaded for analysis, never cached by an intermediary, and never exposed to anyone beyond your screen.
No account, no queue and no watermark accompany the trim. Result files are new encodings that discard hidden location metadata carried by the originals.
Questions
Are scanned documents uploaded for trimming?
No. Detection and trimming run in your browser, so documents never leave your device.
What if there is no solid border?
The image is returned unchanged with the note No solid border found, so nothing is ever wrongly cropped.
What does tolerance do?
It sets how different an edge pixel may be from the corner colour and still count as border. Raise it for JPEG smudges or paper gradients.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
