Why convert ICO to BMP?
Older Windows tooling and resource editors work best with BMP artwork. Converting an ICO to BMP extracts every embedded image as a plain bitmap those tools accept.
BMPs are uncompressed and lose transparency, so the files are bigger than the icon with flat backgrounds. Each embedded size becomes its own BMP file.
Convert privately on your device
Add your ICO images, press Convert to BMP, and download the finished files. No part of the conversion leaves your computer — the icon is parsed and redrawn in the page.
Convert up to 10 ICO files at once (100 MB each, every embedded size converts, largest first) and download each BMP separately or grab them all as one ZIP. The live preview turns your ICO into BMP on screen before anything is saved, so you can confirm the bitmap looks right.
Good to know before you convert ICO to BMP
Match the extracted size to what your tool needs — most Windows resources use 16, 32 or 48 pixels. There is no need to keep every size.
Each icon keeps its file name, with numbered endings such as -1 and -2 for its embedded sizes, so BMP files stay matched to their source. Keep the original ICO files until you have checked the BMP results — reconverting with different settings is free and private.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser, so your files are opened and converted on your own device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Which icon images do I get?
All of them. Every embedded size becomes its own BMP bitmap, so you can pick the exact size your tool needs.
Why are BMP files bigger than the icon?
BMP stores each size uncompressed while the icon packs small images tightly. The artwork itself is unchanged.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
