Design from what is really there
Picking colours by eye from a photo is slow and unreliable: screens deceive, and near-identical shades blur together. Whether you are theming a site, matching a brand, or choosing paint, you need measured data about which colours actually dominate the image.
This finder groups similar shades into buckets and ranks the eight most common, each with a hex code, a percentage share and a pixel count. The ranking exposes the true palette — backgrounds you overlooked and accents you overestimated — so choices rest on evidence.
Your palette stays yours
Colour counting runs completely in your browser on your own device, pixel by pixel, with no image ever leaving your hands. Client photography, unreleased artwork and personal photos can all be analyzed without sharing them with any service.
There is no sign-up, no history and no waiting: rank up to ten images, copy the hex codes you like, and close the tab. Only the tool itself may be cached for offline use; your images and palettes vanish with the session.
When to rank colours and what to do next
Rank colours when building a palette from a photo, checking brand compliance, choosing text that stays readable, or comparing variants of a design. The percentage shares tell you at a glance whether an accent is really an accent or secretly the background.
Copy winners straight into CSS or your design app, or open Image color palette for a cleaner swatch list and Visualize colors for a shareable bar chart.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Colours are counted inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
How are similar shades grouped?
Pixels are bucketed at 5 bits per channel, merging near-identical shades, and each bucket's average becomes its hex code. This keeps noise like JPEG artefacts from splitting one colour into hundreds.
Why do percentages not add up to 100%?
Only the top 8 colours are listed, and fully transparent pixels are skipped. The rest of the image is made of many rarer shades outside the ranking.
