From photo to working palette
A great palette often hides inside a favourite photo, but sampling pixels by hand gives jittery, unrepeatable values that shift with every click. Designers need stable swatches with honest shares, ordered so the dominant tone leads and accents follow.
This extractor measures every opaque pixel, groups close shades, and returns eight swatches from most to least common with hex codes and shares. The result pastes directly into stylesheets, slide themes and design tools without further translation.
Colours read here, never sent away
Extraction happens solely on your own device, inside your browser: pixels are counted locally and only the eight hex codes are ever shown. Because nothing crosses the network, you can palette-match confidential shoots, client brands and family photos alike.
No account, no queue and no stored history get in the way — extract from up to ten images and take the codes with you. When the tab closes, your images are gone too; only the app shell may remain cached for offline use.
When to extract and what to do next
Extract when theming a website from a hero image, building slides to match a photo, choosing paint or print colours, or checking whether a rebrand stayed on-palette. Share percentages guide how much weight each swatch deserves in the final design.
For pixel counts alongside hex codes, see Top image colors; for a visual bar chart PNG, run Visualize colors on the same file.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Palettes are extracted inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
How do I use the hex codes?
Click or copy any code like #3A7BD5 into CSS, Figma, Canva or PowerPoint. Shares tell you which swatches should dominate and which work best as accents.
Why does my palette look different from the photo?
Anti-aliasing and gradients blend edge pixels, and rare shades fall outside the top 8. The palette captures dominant tones; tiny details and textures are intentionally merged away.
