How repeated words are counted
Words are detected the way word processors do: letters and numbers joined by apostrophes or hyphens count as one word, so don't and e-mail each count once. Punctuation, spaces and line breaks separate words, and matching ignores upper and lower case by default so The and the count together.
Only words appearing more than once are listed, sorted by frequency and then alphabetically. Common short words are included because repetition of the, and or it can also signal wordy writing — scan the top of the list first.
Tightening your writing
Repeated nouns and adjectives are the easiest wins: replace a second use with a synonym or pronoun, or cut the sentence entirely. Repeated filler words such as very, just and really can usually be deleted without changing the meaning of the sentence.
Paste a chapter, essay or product description and look for surprises — a word you did not notice repeating five times stands out immediately in the list. Edit your draft, paste it again and watch the counts drop.
Private by design
Counting happens entirely in your browser with no server, queue or account. Essays, manuscripts and business documents never leave your device and disappear when you close the tab.
There is no upload and no history kept: open the tool, check your draft, copy the report and you are done. The app itself may be cached for offline use, never your words.
