Why convert PNG to BMP?
Some older programs, lab equipment software and simple embedded tools only accept BMP. Converting PNG images to BMP gives you plain uncompressed bitmaps that practically anything can read.
BMP files are much larger than PNG because there is no compression, and any transparency in the PNG is lost. Each PNG produces exactly one BMP with the same dimensions.
Convert privately on your device
Add your PNG images, press Convert to BMP, and download the finished files. Everything runs client-side, meaning your pictures never leave the computer, tablet or phone in your hands.
Convert up to 10 PNG files at once (100 MB each, transparency included) and download each BMP separately or grab them all as one ZIP. The live preview turns your PNG into BMP on screen before anything is saved, so you can confirm the bitmap looks right.
Good to know before you convert PNG to BMP
Convert only the images the target program needs, since BMP batches take far more disk space. Keep your PNG originals for everything else you do.
Each file keeps its original name with a bmp ending, so BMP results stay easy to match with their PNG originals. Keep the original PNG files until you have checked the BMP results — reconverting with different settings is free and private.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser, so your files are opened and converted on your own device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Does each PNG give one BMP?
Yes. A PNG holds a single picture, so every input file produces exactly one BMP with the same width and height.
Why is the BMP so much bigger?
BMP stores every pixel uncompressed, while PNG compresses them losslessly. The picture is identical; only the storage is less efficient.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
