RGB splits light, CMYK shows ink, LAB separates lightness, YCbCr matches JPEG.

    How it works

    1. Add your images

Choose JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF or HEIC images to separate into channel files.

    2. Pick a colour space

Choose RGB for light, CMYK for ink, LAB for lightness or YCbCr for JPEG-style luma and chroma.

    3. Download channel PNGs

Each channel saves as its own PNG named by channel, or collect them all in one ZIP.

    One file per channel

This tool turns each image into several grayscale PNGs, one per channel in your chosen space. RGB gives three files called R, G and B, while CMYK gives four called C, M, Y and K for ink plates.

HSL, HSV and HSI split hue, saturation and brightness in slightly different maths, LAB splits perceptual lightness from green-red and blue-yellow, and YIQ, HCL, LCH and YCbCr cover TV and print workflows.

    How separation works

Add up to ten images, pick a space and each channel is computed from the original pixels at full resolution. Names keep the channel letter, so R files hold red intensity and K files hold black ink.

Each channel is computed on your machine, never on a distant host. The browser reads pixels locally and writes only the PNGs you ask to keep.

    When separate files help

Use separate PNGs for lessons, for masking in editors that accept grayscale mattes, or to inspect one channel closely without neighbours. Print shops often want to see the K plate alone before running a job.

For a quick side-by-side preview try the Show channels tools instead, which join panels into one wide PNG. For reordered colour try Reorder channels after inspecting the split.

    Questions

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Your images are opened and separated inside your browser. They never leave your device.

    Which space should I choose?

RGB for screens, CMYK for print ink, LAB for lightness work, YCbCr for JPEG insight. HSL, HSV and HSI suit teaching hue and saturation.

    How are the files named?

Each keeps your base name plus the channel key, like photo-R.png or photo-K.png, so sets stay sorted together.

    Is it free?

Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
