    Settings

No settings needed. Each image becomes a triple-width PNG with H, C and L panels side by side.

    Nothing is uploaded

    How it works

    1. Add your images

Choose JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF or HEIC images to split into HCL panels.

    2. View the HCL strip

Each photo becomes one wide PNG with hue, chroma and lightness grayscale panels joined together.

    3. Download the strips

Save each strip PNG on its own or download all strips together as a ZIP.

What the H, C and L panels show

The left panel shows H hue angle around the colour wheel, the middle shows C chroma colourfulness from grey to vivid, and the right shows L perceptual lightness from black to white. Together they form polar LAB.

A vivid flower is bright in chroma with a clear hue, while a foggy street is dark in chroma and mid in lightness. Chroma tells you how colourful each area really is.

    How to read the strip

Add one or more images and the tool builds a wide PNG joining the hue, chroma and luminance panels side by side. The result keeps full resolution, so subtle vividness differences stay easy to compare.

Nothing is transmitted elsewhere; all pixels remain in your browser. You can inspect colourfulness without any network step.

    When an HCL view helps

Use HCL to choose readable chart colours or to check which parts of a photo will look dull in print. Low chroma areas print as greys even when the screen shows a tint.

For the same space in L-C-H order try Show LCH channels, which lists lightness first. Download the HCL strip PNG on its own, or convert a batch and collect everything in one ZIP.

    Questions

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Your images are opened and split inside your browser. They never leave your device.

    What is chroma?

Chroma is colourfulness from grey to vivid at the same lightness. High chroma means a strong, pure colour.

How is HCL different from HSL?

HCL uses perceptual LAB maths, so equal steps look more even to eyes than HSL. Lightness here matches human brightness better.

    Is it free?

Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
