Positive spins clockwise, negative spins back. 120° gives a bold swirl.
How it works
Add pictures to swirl
Drop in portraits, landscapes or patterns that can take a spin.
Dial the twist angle
Sweep from gentle bends to full 360° vortexes around the centre.
Download swirled PNGs
Preview the vortex core, then save trippy art for covers and posts.
Vortex math for instant psychedelia
Album covers, festival posters and loading screens love rotational energy that pulls eyes toward the middle, and a centre-weighted swirl delivers it without manual liquify brushing. This tool remaps every pixel along an arc whose size shrinks with distance from the centre, so cores spin dramatically while corners anchor the composition. Faces stretch into masks, horizons curl into waves and geometric patterns bloom into mandalas, giving even flat phone snaps a crafted, gallery-warped character in a single deterministic pass.
Angle controls drama: thirty degrees merely leans trees as if wind-blown, one hundred twenty degrees builds the classic poster vortex, and full three-sixty winds details into concentric ribbons that read almost abstract. Negative values mirror the spin for complementary diptychs, and because sampling is centre-weighted, edges stay recognisable enough to frame the chaos. Work from high-resolution originals when planning large prints, since extreme twists stretch central pixels and softening there is inherent to resampling rather than a flaw.
Direct the swirl with intent
Centre placement decides everything, so crop first to put the intended vortex heart — an eye, a flower, a drum — dead middle before twisting. Busy all-over textures like crowds and foliage swirl most forgivingly, while text and architecture warp into illegibility quickly, which suits backgrounds but ruins signage. Pair modest twists with later contrast boosts to restore punch, because rotational interpolation slightly softens micro-detail and can mute grain that gave the source its bite and tactile presence.
Outputs are PNG to preserve smooth gradients without JPG banding across the curved streaks. Keep masters intact, iterate angles from them in wide jumps before fine-tuning favourites, and proof small before committing to canvas sizes. Corners may expose empty wedges at extreme angles where source pixels rotate out of frame; embrace them as design breathing room or crop tighter afterwards for edge-to-edge vortex fills.
Trips generated on your own turntable
Creative experiments should not require surrendering originals to filter clouds, so swirl arithmetic happens wholly inside your browser thread. Many effect apps transmit each attempt for server rendering and keep the results for style analytics, whereas here trigonometric remapping plus PNG encoding occur in local memory that evaporates on tab close, leaving personal portraits, client shoots and festival identities beyond the reach of scrapers, recommenders and rights Grabs.
There is no sign-in, no render queue and no watermark: open Twist image pixels when a layout needs motion, spin up to ten pictures, download the vortex PNGs and close the tab. Only the code shell persists for offline fun, never your frames. Re-spin the same source at mirrored angles anytime to build matching pairs, since originals never degrade and every twist is a fresh, discardable take.
Questions
Are swirled photos uploaded?
No. The vortex is computed in your browser. Files never leave your device.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
What angle looks best?
Around 90–150° gives a clear swirl while keeping subjects recognisable. Use 300°+ for near-abstract ribbons.
Why are corners empty after twisting?
Extreme rotation pulls corner pixels out of frame. Crop tighter or use a smaller angle to keep edges filled.
