Bigger blocks look more compressed. The file itself is not made smaller.
PNG keeps every shade exactly. JPG and WebP use the quality below.
Used for JPG and WebP only. PNG is always saved losslessly.
How it works
Add your images
Choose up to 10 images — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF or HEIC — straight from your device.
Tune the effect
Choose the block size: bigger blocks look more compressed (files stay the same size).
Download the result
Preview each filtered copy, then save them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Fake compression, real style
This averages each block of pixels into one chunky square, mimicking a video crushed by over-compression. Memes, thumbnails and vaporwave art wear the damage as a badge.
Bigger blocks read as heavier damage: 12 suits subtle retro hints, 32-plus screams dial-up nostalgia. Crucially, the effect is only visual, never a real size saving.
Style, not savings
Do not use this to shrink files: dimensions stay identical and PNG outputs can even grow. For genuinely smaller files, visit the compress tool after styling.
Faces stay recognizable far longer than you would expect, which makes the look great for censoring with flair. Preview at final size, since blocks scale with viewing distance.
Blocky yet discreet
The mosaic averaging runs on-device in a single pass over your pixels. Looking destructively compressed and being privately processed turn out to be fully compatible.
Nothing uploads while your images fall apart beautifully. When the tab closes, the only artifacts left are the masterpieces you chose to download.
Questions
Are my images uploaded when I use this?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Does this make my files smaller?
No. It only looks compressed: dimensions stay identical and PNG files can even grow. Use the compress tool when you need genuinely smaller files.
What block size should I pick?
Around 12 gives a subtle retro hint, 24 to 32 reads clearly damaged, and 48-plus turns scenes into bold abstract grids.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits.
